There are a wide range of walks in the valley for all abilities enabling you to discover the villages, farm settlements, churches and viewpoints. Many walking tours are on offer in the Néouvielle Nature Reserve and in addition, there are some famous trails that pass through the area:


  • The GR10 - Saint Lary Soulan is on the GR10 between the Néouvielle massif and the Louron valley.

  • The Pyrenean High route passes close to St Lary as it connects Banyuls on the Mediterranean to Hendaye on the Atlantic

  • The pilgrim route of Saint Jacques de Compostelle route which starts in Saint Bertrand de Comminges and then enters the Aure valley at Héches follows an ancient path called the Ténarèze alongside the Neste river.

  • The tour of the Néouvielle (3091m) can be done staying in 5 refuges.  

Adreneline Junkies

  • Water activities: a variety of water activities are available in the Vallee d’Aure and the canyons of Aragon such as kayaking, canyoning, and rafting.

  • Flying:  have a go at paragliding or hang-gliding to get a bird's eye view of the valley

  • Mountain biking:  A bike park in St Lary Soulan offers a variety of courses for downhill and cross-country which can be accessed by the Soum chairlift.  In addition, there are way-marked mountain biking routes which offer a variety of circuits on both sides of the border, with exciting routes to discover on the French side, whilst the Spanish side offers the Sobrarbe, the Sierra de Guara, and the Bardenas desert.
